Penalty Categories

The table below summarizes all the categories of penalties which may be called under the rules. Some penalties cause the offending team to be shorthanded, while others are considered to be ``personal'' penalties, since they penalize the player, but not the team. The column labeled ` Substitute Allowed?' indicates whether or not a substitute may replace the player incurring the corresponding penalty.
